TOPIC about_tcs.intune.packaging SHORT DESCRIPTION Functions to build, package and deploy application and configuration packages for Microsoft Intune. LONG DESCRIPTION tcs.intune.packaging creates Win32 .intunewin packages with Microsoft's IntuneWinAppUtil.exe, Application Packaging Framework (APF) installer packages, Win32 app detection and requirement rules, and the Entra ID groups used to deploy an application. The module needs Windows (Windows PowerShell 5.1 or PowerShell 7) and tcs.core 0.3.0 or later. Commands that talk to Entra ID or Intune also need the Microsoft.Entra or Microsoft.Graph.Authentication modules. APF packages are built from the installer scripts in the module's Public/Templates folder. Each package contains Intune-I-MainInstaller.ps1, optional pre- and post-install scripts, config.installer.json and a detection script. Install command: %windir%\sysnative\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned -WindowStyle Hidden -File Intune-I-MainInstaller.ps1 Uninstall command: the same with -Uninstall. The Intune Management Extension is a 32-bit process; sysnative starts the 64-bit Windows PowerShell. APF package names become folder names and are written into the detection scripts as single-quoted strings; names with path separators, wildcards or characters Windows does not allow in file names are rejected. IntuneWinAppUtil.exe is kept per user in %LOCALAPPDATA%\tcs.intune.packaging. When it is missing the packaging commands ask before downloading it (or use -AllowDownload), and Get-IntunePackagingTool refuses a download that is not signed by Microsoft Corporation (or does not match -ExpectedSha256). Every exported command reports anonymous usage telemetry through tcs.core (command name, duration, success, exception type, PowerShell and OS version and a random installation ID). No user, machine, path or error text is sent. Nothing is sent until a TelemetryUri is configured. Turn it off with -Telemetry $false or the TCS_TELEMETRY_OPTOUT=1 environment variable. Publish-IntuneAppPackage and New-IntuneWin32Application create Win32 apps in Intune and upload their content with Microsoft Graph. Publish-IntuneAppPackage -Force uploads a new content version to an existing app and updates its properties, and then assigns the app (group, all users or all devices; required, available or uninstall; optional assignment filter). Get-IntuneWin32App, Set-IntuneWin32App, Remove-IntuneWin32App, Add-IntuneWin32AppSupersedence and Add-IntuneWin32AppDependency manage existing Win32 apps. Connect first with Connect-MgGraph -Scopes DeviceManagementApps.ReadWrite.All. Set-ScriptSignature signs scripts; ConvertTo-SignedScript is an alias for it.
